Damselfly
Like the larger dragonfly, damselflies are found near water. They catch insects with their legs held in the shape of a little basket, scooping up their prey in mid-air. The damselfly folds its two pair of paperthin wings when resting. The thin body is often jewel-colored. Both damselflies and dragonflies lay eggs in the water or on water plants. The young, called nymphs, grow there and then leave the water after several stages of growth. |
